We were visited by the director of the Uffizi Gallery, dr. Eike Schmidt
One of the largest museum complexes in the world, the Uffizi Gallery, found in the center of Florence along the Arno River, became the most visited cultural institution in Italy in 2021 for the first time. Last year, however, the visit more than doubled and reached over 4 million visitors. The merits also go to the thorough renovation of the exhibition spaces and the updating of the program, which has been supported since 2015 by the incisive director dr. Eike Schmidt.
Last week, the German art historian visited Slovenia and, among other things, gave the introductory lecture of the International Center for Comparative Historical Research at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Together with Slovenian colleagues dr. Matej Klemenčič and dr. Samo Štefanec from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, also visited the Intermunicipal musem Kamnik Museum and took a close look at the Renaissance statues of the Guardian of God’s Tomb and St. Frances.
