Urša Toman - Dream Emigration
The sculptor Urša Toman studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, where she graduated in sculpture in 1998. Since 1993, she has collaborated with Metelkova in numerous events and presentations at numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. Her interest in placing sculpture in the natural environment, parks and gardens is reflected through her works, which are placed in such environments. She also conducts art workshops and participates in pedagogical – andragogical projects.
Urša Toman creates playful sculptures imbued with subtlety, grace, helplessness and childish playfulness. She makes them into natural materials such as clay, wood, stone and combines them with colour additives. The figures, which predominantly belong to a small, intimate form, are marked by accentuated eyes and sensual lips that become an eloquent portrait segment of the depiction.
