Stories of Maister's items - from virtuality to reality

At the exhibition STORIES OF MAISTER’S ITEMS or from virtuality to reality, the original Maister heritage – presented online in 2021 as a virtual Maister path – was given the opportunity to speak to the visitor face to face. The institutions that jointly created the above-mentioned online project are putting on display selected museum objects, documents, the original Master’s heritage, which they keep and research. At the exhibition, visitors can see valuable objects and materials, such as Maister’s books from his famous library from the Maribor University Library, his letters, archival documents, manuscripts from participating archives, the famous magazine Savinja, Pirnat’s statue of Rudolf Maister from the National Museum of Slovenia, and Miha Maleš’s depiction of the general from the Miha Maleš Gallery… and listened to their stories.

Namely, every virtual offer, no matter how rich it is, has an essential drawback. It lacks a personal experience, an encounter with an authentic object, which, in addition to its cultural and historical dimensions, reveals to us an abundance of its characteristic details and properties and offers opportunities for completely personal experiences and aesthetic pleasures.

Here in front of you are, among other things, a few selected objects, photographs, documents, the precious legacy of the Master, when you can see it live like this very rarely; especially that stored in archives and repositories and usually accessible only to experts.
