Public guided tour of the exhibition Pasta and Coffee
The European Cultural Heritage Days take place in various institutions from 25 September to 9 October 2021. By selecting this year’s Theme Bon Appetit!, DEKD joins the activities in naming Slovenia the European Gastronomic Region 2021. The aim is to achieve a better quality of life by emphasizing a unique culinary culture, educating for a healthier and more sustainable life and promoting innovation in gastronomy.
Under the theme Bon Appetit! We want to discover with you recipes for tasting heritage related to agriculture, production, processing of raw materials, purchase, sale, preparation and consumption of everyday and festive dishes, be it immovable, movable or intangible heritage. From knowledge and skills to customs and habits; from the cultural landscape to markets, granaries, black kitchens and inns; from the first agricultural tools, industrial processing to cookbooks and placemats.
In the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik, we invite you to a public guided tour of the exhibition Pasta and Coffee from Šmarca, where since 1919 it has smelled of grain coffee and coffee substitutes, pasta and jam. The factory produced as many as 29 types of pasta. Real coffee was rarely roasted – especially for the military, they mainly made coffee substitute from barley. In 1948 they became the unit of Kamnik’s factory Eta. In 1963, the pasta and coffee unit was closed.
The exhibition will be led by the author Marko Kumer.
You are welcome.
