Press conference at the presentation of the promotional project With Valvasor on a visit to the Gorenjska museums

We invite you to the press conference, which will be held on Friday 2 December 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Jakopin Room of the Tržič Museum, Muzejska ulica 11, Tržič. Our new project will be presented at the press conference by the directors of the Gorenjska museums.

Museums from the Gorenjska region have been working together for many years and preparing joint projects, the purpose of which is to show the heritage of our region, which is extremely diverse and reflects the historical peculiarities of individual places. This is how we address our regular and future visitors together.

In 2022, we have prepared a promotional project With Valvasor on a visit to the Gorenjska museums. These are five videos intended for a campaign on Facebook, the purpose of which is the promotion of museums and the sale of common tickets for five museums.

We participate in the project: Medobčinski muzej Kamnik, Gorenjski muzej, Muzeji radovljiške občine, Tržiški muzej and Gornjesavski muzej Jesenice.

5 VIDEOS FOR 5 MUSEUMS

The animations feature Baron Janez Vajkard Valvasor, who presents visitors with ‘valuables more important than gold’, which are hidden in Gorenjska museums. We interweave his records from the 17th century with contents that can be found in museums and our places today.

WHY DID WE CHOOSE VALVASOR?

As we know, Valvasor was a traveler, a polyhistor, a researcher who, among other works, wrote The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola in 1689, and he is also considered the first Slovenian museum owner, as he was the first to exhibit a collection of objects related to his travels in his castle on Bogenšperk near Litija. That’s why we chose him as a connecting character who presents the contents of the museums in an entertaining way.

The content of the videos was outlined by the directors of the Gorenjska museums with the participation of the curators: Jana Babšek, Zora Torkar, Marjana Žibert, Petra Bole and Aljaž Pogačnik.

The video production was taken over by Irenej Vid Bošnjak from Ire Studios, the animation was prepared by the historian Nejc Kavka. Valvasor’s illustrations were drawn by Jure Engelsberger.

The website www.valvasor-muzeji.si  was created for the project, designed by Maša Okršlar from Mixer.si. She also designed promotional material – a magnet and a note with Valvasor’s image. She has also designed a joint ticket with which you can visit all five museums in Gorenjska at a reasonable price. You can buy a ticket online or at the individual museum.

The website and Facebook campaign will be activated on December 3, 2022, on “This Happy Day of Culture”.
