Museum evening: Ivan Debevec - Slovenian Dior
You are cordially invited to the museum evening on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the museum at Zaprice Castle.
Ivan Debevc’s family ended up in Kamnik through a series of coincidences, and Kamnik had the honor and luck that the fashion designer Ivan Debevec started his career there and that his creations were proudly worn by recognizable members of the baby boom generation. The respectful nickname “Slovenian Dior” stuck to Master Debevec.
Ivan Debevec was a master tailor, artist, fashion designer and an excellent organizer. He also organized his own fashion shows. Without intermediaries, he sought out the biggest stars of the Yugoslav stage and managed to bring them to Kamnik, Domžale, Ljubljana or Mengeš. So Tereza Kesovija, Ljupka Dimitrovska and Ivica Šerfezi and all the best Slovenian singers and ensembles sang at the revues: Ditka Haberl, Braco Koren, Majda Sepe, Elda Viler, Eva Sršen, Andrej Šifrer, Marjan Smode, New Swing Quartet and also Kamniktiti. Debevec’s favorite presenter was Nataša Dolenc from Kamnik. He trained a group of models for his fashion magazines. They represented his fashion throughout Slovenia. The most famous of them were Rok Lasan and Zorica Pesek. Among the people from Kamnik, he chose the charming young woman Sonja Sitar and the attractive young man with rocker energy Frenk Vengust.
Marko Kumer will talk about the master Ivan Debevec and the world of fashion with invited guests Zorica Pesek, Frenk Vengust and photographer Stane Jerko.
The museum evening was created in collaboration with Barbara Krajnc, the Debevec family, Zorica Pesek and Stane Jerko.
Barbara Krajnc keeps the photo of the after the fashion show in Kamnik.
