Ivan Vavpotič - a giant of the portrait
At the end of 1918, the first Slovenian brands were printed in Blaznik’s printing house in Ljubljana, so called Verigar (a man with a broken chain). The drafts were made by painter Ivan Vavpotič. And right on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the stamps, the idea of a comprehensive presentation of the extensive and varied artistic opus of Ivan Vavpotic, born in Kamnik, but who spent his youth in Novo mesto. From here, an agreement was reached on the cooperation between the Dolenjski muzej Novo mesto- Božidar Jakac Gallery and Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik – Miha Maleš Gallery. In both cities, Vavpotič’s works will be exhibited, which will together represent the whole, accompanied by an extremely representative joint exhibition catalog.
The curator Saša Bučan will present the artist. Students of the Kamnik Music School will take part in the musical program. The exhibition will be on display until the end of May 2019.
