International Museum Day 2021
As early as 1977, the ICOM International Museum Council declared May 18 as the International Museum Day, with the aim of raising the profile of museums in society and its development. Every year, several museums, including Slovenian ones, join this holiday.
This year’s International Museum Day MMD 2021 is dedicated to the FUTURE OF MUSEUMS: RECOVERY AND NEW CHALLENGES. This year’s ICOM theme aims to recall key changes in our society and recovery during the COVID_19 epidemic. As part of this year’s theme, we announce that museums are an active member of change, that they offer reflection on the relationship to the community, face new work challenges and models of cultural creativity. Museums must also strive for the creative potential of culture as an area of challenge and innovation in building a just and sustainable future.
You are invited to a public guided tour of the visiting exhibition Lojze Perko – Between the Storm and Clarity at the Miha Maleš Gallery on Glavni trg 2 in Kamnik, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 6 p.m.
