We are once again participating in the joint campaign of SMS and the Museum Registry Service at the National Museum of Slovenia #FORWARDTOTHEPAST #MUSEUMSRESEARCH #MUSEUMSINCREW, which will take place online from 9 to 15 December 2024. Museums and galleries are multifaceted institutions that respond to current events, encourage dialogue, intergenerational encounters, critical thinking, research, learning, and creativity.
In the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik, we have prepared for you online and on social networks:
An online exhibition about the best road cyclist in the world, Tadej Pogačar – Behind the big stage.
When photographer, freelance cultural worker, publisher, and researcher France Stele photographed sporting events in Komenda more than 15 years ago, while accompanying his growing son Jakob to school and extracurricular activities, he could not have imagined that along the way he was recording the story of a giant of world cycling, Tadej Pogačar. He titled the exhibition of his photographs Izz veliki odera.
What Tadej did when he was not in the public eye, how he raced through his hometown, and how his fellow countrymen repeatedly welcomed him after his great victories, you can see all this through the lens of France Stele, the author of the photographs and texts. Tadej’s father, Mirko Pogačar, took on the review work. The idea for the exhibition and coordination were the work of Janja Železnikar, the design was taken over by Agata Stele, the Slovenian texts were proofread by Ana Gruden, and translated into English by Nataša Gerič. The project was financially supported by the municipality of Komenda and the mayor, Mr. Jurij Kern.
The exhibition can be viewed on billboards along the School Path in Komenda or online:
