Dr. Julijana Visočnik: Roman tombstones from Kamnik and its surroundings
So far we know from Kamnik and its immediate vicinity three Roman tombstones. Two are built into the chapel of St. Koloman in Mekinje, one is kept in the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik.
The tombstones mention various names from the ancient world, showing a mixture of the native population, Romanized natives and immigrants from different parts of the Roman Empire. Who is the accountant from Aquinas (today Budim del Budapest) and his 22-year-old wife; who Tertia, Bouillon, Anonius, Dindius, and others?
Where do they come from, what were their professions, what did they do during their lifetime and where were they buried in Kamnik or its surroundings? Their tombstones were apparently separated from the graves.
The answers to these and many other questions will be given by doc. dr. Julijana Visočnik.
