Guided tour of museum exhibitions and discussion about the work of a museum curator
During the Month of Culture for students, we invite you to a free tour and presentation of museum cases with materials for an archaeologist curator, historian and art historian, which will be conducted by Janja Železnikar, an archaeologist curator.
Due to the limited capacity of the museum premises, prior registration of students to info@muzejkamnik.si is mandatory.

Maister’s evening: Marko Ličina: IN SEARCH OF THE “YUGOSLAVIAN UNIFORM”

The period of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs was also the time of the creation of the army, which was organized according to confederation principles in the conditions of the time, and its Slovenian part is remembered today as the first Slovenian army.

Astronomical observation of the Moon, Jupiter and some distant objects of the night sky
Astronomers from RAK – Research Astronomical Circle of the Rudolf Maistra Gymnasium and High School from Kamnik, together with astronomers from Kamnik, are also preparing a public astronomical observation in Zaprice this year. The viewing (of the Moon, Jupiter and some more distant objects in the night sky, such as nebulae, clusters and galaxies, maybe even a comet) will be on the lawn next to the museum’s barns on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 7 to 10 p.m. In case of bad weather, the observation will be postponed to the following evening.

PRE-OPENING EVENT OF THE GOOD NEWS ART PROJECT

Music and art suite DOBRE NOVICE (Gašper Selko, keyboards and trumpet and Matic Sterle – visuals)
International art event with a creative dialogue between the famous Belgian sculptor William Sweetlove and more than 25 renowned international artists. Their works will be on display at a large exhibition in the Miha Maleš Gallery, in the Zaprice Castle Museum alongside permanent exhibitions of local and national Slovenian treasures, monumental sculptures in the botanical garden of the Volčji Potok Arboretum, and exhibitions in local art galleries and at some surprising locations in the center of Kamnik.

Jožefa Humar – Debevčeva Zefa cultivated, preserved and enriched the cultural heritage of the area of the Velika, Mala and Gojška planina and thus the entire Slovenian area. With a refined artistic sense and great spiritual wealth, she always drew new ideas for her creations from her admiration of nature, which were rooted in the traditions of her ancestors and enhanced by her imagination. She realized them in the carving of fonts for thorns, sprinklers, door handles, as well as in the design of the crucified Christ, decorations for household utensils, various figurines, drawing pirches, writing poems and notes, in short, in all her work.

Opening of a new temporary exhibition MAISTER AND NATIVE TOWN KAMNIK

The exhibition shows Rudolf Maister’s connection with Kamnik, his birthplace and his contemporaries, the town’s attitude towards him, such as the awarding of an honorary citizen diploma, correspondence on his 60th birthday, the discovery of a memorial plaque at his birthplace, the discovery of the first monument to him in Slovenia, the work of the sculptor Anton Sigulin to the opening of the Maister’s bridge, the celebration of the Kamnik municipal holiday on his birthday and the more than 10 years of operation of the Rudolf Maister’s Birthhouse. Maister’s friends from Kamnik, with whom he has always been friends and worked together, will also be presented.
