At the Slovene cultural holiday
On February 8th we celebrate the holiday of Slovenian culture and the memory of the Slovenian poet France Prešeren, who died on this day in 1849. Prešeren’s day is a holiday since 1945, and Republic of Slovenia has preserved it and declared it 1991 as a free day and it is of course primarily intended for culture. Many cultural institutions invite visitors to free tours of exhibitions, shows and events.
You are also invited to the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik.
On the eve of a cultural holiday, on February 7th, we are opening two exhibitions: in the artistic pavilion in Tržič, the exhibition of the monotypes of Miha Maleš “From the Path” and at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Croatia, an exhibition of Maleš’s illustration of the France Prešeren’s poems along with Travica Maleš Grešak and the Central Library of Celje.
On the holiday itself, on February 8th, all units of the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik will be open from 10 am to 6 pm for free tours of permanent and occasional exhibitions, such as Ivan Vavpotič, Katja Sorta, On a Barrel of Gunpowder, Funeral ritual in the late Bronze Age, Great war from private collections in Kamnik’s region
On February 8th, at 11:00 pm, you are especially invited to the public guided tour of the exhibition ” On a Barrel of Gunpowder” lead by Marko Matoh.
On Saturday, February 9th, you are invited to the Miha Maleš Gallery, where every full hour from 10 am to 5 pm the Benjamin Zajc’s author theater project will be held on the motives of the epic-lyrical poem by France Prešeren, Krst pri Savici – performance for one spectator.
