Archaeological heritage of highlands
Museum’s evening: Mija Ogrin, Archaeological heritage of highlands
The days of European cultural heritage in the European Year of Cultural Heritage are dedicated to the archaeological evidence of the existence of man in the Alpine world. Highlands is a mysterious world where it is necessary to know the nature of nature and to respect it for survival. Systematic overviews have revealed in recent decades a series of new high-mountain archaeological sites that indicate that man has come to this world from time immemorial. Numerous researchers, among them dr. Jana Horvat, dr. Ivan Turk, dr. Tone Cevc, Miran Bremšak, France Stele, Janez Bizjak and Mija Ogrin found traces of shorter or longer visits from prehistory to the mountains. Mija Ogrin explores mainly in the Julian Alps. The lecture will reveal some of the key finds and sites from the highlands with an emphasis on its latest research.
