Incredible Mountains
Incredible Mountains project of Slovenian museums from Gorenjska region
Opening ceremony on May 22th at 7 pm
Zaprice Castle
Six Slovenian museums of Gorenjska region have joined together in the inter-institutional project, named “Incredible Mounitains.” The word ‘gore’ (mountains) is embedded in the name of the Gorenjska region. The mountains connect us by the nature, people, language and by the name.
In the framework of the project, we have set up a Gorenjska museum-mountain trail which takes visitors across hills from one pick to another, from one cottage to another, from natural and cultural heritage seen and preserved on the field. The author of this trail is Jelena Justin from Gorenjski muzej Kranj, philosopher and historian employed as PR in the museum. She is passionate hiker and mountain climber. Text for the museum part of the booklet was written by museum curators of different profiles.
The main goal was to bring visitors to the museums and show them the remines of the past that we are preserving in our collections and after that take the visitors to the nature, to the hills we are describing in our exhibitions.
Tree museums have permanent exhibitions, three of them temporary exhibition. That causes us some problem, we still don’t know whether to take this project for a year or two.
So: Loški muzej from Škofja Loka presents local pilgrimage hill Lubnik. It was first settled in the Copper Age (between 2700 and 1800 B.C.). From the Roman times there was real cave sanctuary in where the gifts to the goods were found.
