Stories of trees
A new educational path for nature conservation protected old trees in Komenda.
The Municipality of Komenda, the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik and the Institute for the Protection of Nature of the Republic of Slovenia decided to mark the old trees, which are natural values and living, the oldest stories of the history of the place. On nature conservation trees there are markers with data on their name, age and planting time.
Trees have heard many secrets, received various injuries … were many on the go or in support, in a beautiful memory and a romantic meeting, for a photographic scenery or bulletin board … In short: some are here and adorn the place and give it a touch of the past.
Protected trees are woven from the old Komenda (until 1945 it consisted of a Komenda manor, a kaplanija, a parish priest and Glavar’s beneficiature – today a library) to Kapela vas. They lie along the connecting road running parallel to the right bank of Pšata. By the road, there were powerful farms and homesteads. Today there are no more. There are only trees that have taken over the names of former homesteads. You are invited to walk along the path of protected old Comendas trees.
You are invited to get to know their stories. They are collected in a leaflet, which can be found under the information board in the parking lot in front of the church.
