Gallery evening: Mag. Blaž OTRIN, PHOTOGRAPHER LOVRENC FUNTEK

At the gallery evening, Blaž Otrin will introduce us to the life and work of one of the first professional photographers in Slovenia, Lovrenc Funtek (1831-1874), who was born in Mengeš and worked in Ljubljana. He photographed the family of Mihael Stare (among them the Kamnik branch of the Stare), a well-known businessman, several well-known citizens of Ljubljana, national revivalists, writers and poets, including Fran Levstik. The lecture will also commemorate the 200th anniversary of the invention of photography.

Opening of a new exhibition JANKO ŠTEFE – HEART FOR RACING

The author of the exhibition is Marko Kumer.

The decade from 1961 to 1970 was also strongly marked by road races in Kamnik. As early as 1961, the hard-working Kamnik Automobile Association organized the first republican championship in various motorcycle categories, including up to 50 cc and up to 125 cc. In the category of the weakest bikes, the 16-year-old Janko Štefe, a native of Trzin, who rode Tomos’ bike for the Kamnik club, announced his march to the highest places in the following seasons with the second place. And the very next year – 1962, Štefe was the winner of the category up to 50 cc and third in the category up to 125 cc. In total, he won nine national championships and a whole series of second place finishes.
